What happens when two 30 something buddies get themselves into trouble and want to avoid jail time? They opt for 150 hours of community service mentoring some slightly-off-the-path youths and in the process wind up with a film that's sweet without too much pandering and laugh-out loud funny without being constantly depending on the gross or inane.
ROLE MODELS stars Paull Rudd and Seann William Scott as the buddies who opt for the community service instead of the jail time. The screenplay was written by Rudd and it once again demonstrates how truly funny a comedy can be if you know how to work the "words" by simply having funny characters say funny things with proper timing and good direction. Another part of the successful formula is Rudd and Scott play guys we all know. How they interact with another and what they say sometimes feels like they've eavesdropped on some of my conversations with friends, though none of us has performed community service to avoid jail time...yet.
